Prioritizing LI Families Amidst a Growing Housing Crisis

Updated: Sep 26

A recent Newsday report highlights a troubling reality: a significant housing crisis is unfolding right here on Long Island. As the cost of living continues to soar, many of our neighbors—the faces we know and the families we see every day—are being pushed into untenable living situations. Increasingly, local families are finding themselves displaced, living in temporary shelters, cramped tents, and even their vehicles, desperately trying to make ends meet.

The situation is grim, and the response from our state should be one of urgent support and remediation. However, the current state policies seem to prioritize the allocation of substantial resources, including billions in gift cards and housing assistance, to illegal migrants. While support for all humans in crisis is vital, the scale and focus of aid reveal a stark misalignment of priorities that leaves our own community members vulnerable and overlooked.

This crisis is not just a series of statistics; it is about real people and real suffering. It is about the single mother who has to explain to her child why they no longer have a home, the elderly couple who spend their nights in a car they once took on family trips, and the young adults who face uncertain futures as they grapple with homelessness at the start of their careers.

As your prospective representative, Joe Cardinale is committed to addressing these issues head-on. Joe believes that while compassion is a necessary virtue of governance, it must be coupled with practicality and prioritization that starts at home. His campaign is built on the promise of reevaluating and restructuring how our resources are allocated to ensure that Long Islanders receive the aid and support they desperately need.

On November 5th, a vote for Joe Cardinale is a vote for a leadership that recognizes the hardships of its citizens and is prepared to act decisively. It's time to bring balance and focused attention to the issues that matter most to us. It's time to put Long Island families first and ensure that our policies reflect the values of care and responsibility we hold dear.

Let’s stand together for a Long Island that upholds the dignity of its residents and provides real solutions to our most pressing challenges. Vote Joe Cardinale for NYS Assembly and let’s get New York on the right track.
