Inflation is a topic that affects each one of us, from the groceries we buy to the homes we aspire to own. As a candidate for the New York State Assembly, I am deeply concerned about the economic challenges our community faces—challenges that have only been compounded by the policies of the current administration under Governor Hochul and the Democratic majority in both the Assembly and Senate.
Recently, President Biden made a startling claim in a CNN interview, stating that inflation was "9%" when he took office, though official statistics clearly show it was merely 1.4%. This misrepresentation highlights a broader issue of accountability and transparency in our government. Under Biden's watch, inflation surged to a peak of 9.1% by June 2022, a stark increase driven in part by substantial governmental spending during his first year in office, which many economists believe has significantly devalued our dollar.
The implications of these policies are felt strongly here in New York, where the cost of living has soared. Home prices and daily expenses have climbed, making it increasingly difficult for average families to make ends meet. Real incomes have declined when adjusted for inflation, and consumer confidence is near a two-year low. The administration's attempt to attribute this rampant inflation to corporate greed and external factors overlooks the fundamental economic missteps made—missteps that have real and lasting impacts on our daily lives.
This is not just about numbers on a page; it’s about the people in our neighborhoods struggling to buy groceries, pay rent, and live the American dream. The unbalanced approach to governance we see both in Washington and Albany has only exacerbated these issues. My campaign for the State Assembly is rooted in the belief that balance, fairness, and conservative fiscal principles are the keys to a prosperous state. We need to hold our leaders accountable, push for policies that encourage economic growth and sustainability, and ensure that every voice is heard.
In New York, the Democratic majority has not sufficiently addressed these critical economic challenges. As your Assemblyman, I pledge to work with all parties to foster an environment of fairness and transparency. It's time to move beyond partisan deadlock and focus on effective solutions that will make our community safer and more affordable.
The upcoming election is a pivotal moment for our state. A vote for me is not just a vote for change; it's a vote for a practical approach to governance that prioritizes the wellbeing of every New Yorker. Together, we can restore accountability and ensure that our economic policies reflect the needs and aspirations of all residents.
Let’s bring balance back to New York. Vote for progress. Vote for a safer, more affordable community. Vote for me, Joe Cardinale.
